KVK Poonch distributes Chicks to tribal beneficiaries

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) distributed chicks to the tribal beneficiaries of  Blcok Haveli. The chicks were distributed in presence of Sh. Khalil Ahmed and Mohd. Shafi Melu, Members State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjar and Bakerwal.

In this programme 2400 chicks were distributed among 80 tribal beneficiaries by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch.  Dr. Ajay Gupta, I/c. Scientist and Head, KVK Poonch addressed the beneficiaries and informed them about various central Govt. schemes. He further elaborated about main components of Tribal Sub Plan to the stakeholders which included capacity building of tribal farmers, demonstrations, establishment of cutting & stitching Centres at Panchayat levels and promotion of backyard poultry etc. for the upliftment of tribal families. He advised the farmers to adopt improved agricultural practices in addition to backyard poultry so as to increase the income.  Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma spoke about the role of backyard poultry for improving income of tribal farmers. He also explained about various activities of KVK.

Sh. Khaleel Ahmed and Mohd. Shafi Melu, Members State Advisory Board applauded the efforts made by the KVK staff for implementation of TSP and thanked SKAUST-Jammu, Directorate of Extension and I/c. KVK Poonch for distribution of chicks to the poor tribals of the Poonch block in a very transparent manner. Farmers also discussed various agriculture related problems of their areas and appreciated the work of the KVK scientists in the field for their benefits.
